"We ensure extended battery life through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration," Samsung was quoted as saying by PhoneArena. "We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone," the company added. Echoing a similar stament, LG committed it "will never" slow down its smartphones. According to the company, the new product at Rs 29 will enable unlimited 3G/4G data usage and download for five hours. "The pack can be activated any time of the day but will be applicable only during the subsequent five hours between 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.," it said in a statement. Jio is offering 1 GB of 4G data per day and unlimited voice calls under Rs 303, Rs 309 schemes Latest news  : Around 90 per cent of Reliance Jio users are estimated to have subscribed to its promotional Prime membership plan, according to the report by Bank of America Merill Lynch. Around 76 per cent are ready to continue using Jio's service once the promotional period ends, it added. "80 per cent of users have only one Jio SIM...90 per cent are Prime members, 84 per cent claim to have paid Jio the monthly top-up as well," the report said. It said 84 per cent of these Jio users have paid monthly top-up with majority of them choosing Rs 303 or Rs 309 pack. "Apple's decision to leave out the faster gigabit chip found in the competing Galaxy S8 from Samsung could be because of how it sources modems," tech website zdnet.com reported on Monday. Gigabit connectivity offers fibre-like speeds via wireless and is supposed to be 50-100 times faster. Samsung  says it's considering bringing the recalled units back to market. The company says it will first consult regulatory authorities and carriers and assess local demand. It's not yet known when and which countries such phones would be sold. Samsung killed the Note 7 phone after dozens overheated and caught on fire. Samsung recalled one set, but found problems with the replacements as well. The spontaneous fires, many chronicled in videos circulated on YouTube, prompted Samsung to recall millions of phones and take a USD 5.3 billion hit on its earnings. Samsung conducted extensive tests since then and has blamed multiple design and manufacturing defects in batteries made by two different companies.
