Patanjali goes online, aims over Rs 1,000 crore sales in 2018

LATEST NEWS : Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved today announced its foray into e-commerce for its FMCG items, partnering major players in the space, including Amazon and Flipkart, and targeting over Rs 1,000 crore this year itself. The Haridwar-based company said it has partnered eight players, which also include Grofers, Shopclues, BigBasket, 1mg, Paytm Mall and Netmeds, through which its entire range of products would be available online. Besides, Patanjali said it will also expand into new product segments such as bottled water through brand 'Divya Jal' and apparels and footwear under the brand name 'Paridhan' this year. "Online mechanism aims to provide convenient and efficient options along with extension of traditional retail market", said Baba Ramdev. The Moto X4 sports a dual camera set-up on the back, which utilises a 12-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture. After merger talks with Flipkart fail, Snapdeal to cut 83% of its workforce

The firm decided to sack around 1,000 employees out of their present workforce of 1,200 LATEST NEWS  :  E-commerce major Snapdeal on Monday revealed that it is facilitating a major layoff in the company, with an agenda to cut down 80 per cent of its employee strength. A senior official of the company told ANI that the management has given verbal instructions to their department heads to prepare the list. Additionally, the official also revealed that the owners of the firm have reversed the merger which was to take place between Snapdeal and Flipkart. Rather, with the money from the sale of Freecharge received ($50 million), the firm has decided to sack around 1,000 employees out of their present workforce of 1200, and carry forward with the remaining. In July last year, the company had over 9,000 employees. However, the management cut down the talent pool down to 1200, without any notice. Sources added that Softbank would in all probability invest in Flipkart on its own and not continue its association with Snapdeal. The Snapdeal founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, as well as early stage investor Nexus Venture Partner and smaller shareholders such as PremjiInvest, had  all along expressed reservations about the deal. 28 hours a week: Indians spend 7X more time on smartphones than on TV

Around 4 per cent of the time is spent on online shopping Indian  consumers spend as much as 28 hours a week on their smartphones , seven fold more than the time they end up spending in watching programmes on television as more users access internet on their mobile phone. According to the Mary Meeker report, released on Wednesday night, the delivery of  entertainment, education, healthcare and marketplaces is being reimagined in India with the mobile phone emerging as the primary device for access to consumers. In education sector, the report said education technology firm Byju’s has shown 15 per cent improvement in the quality of learning by accessing content on smartphones. In the healthcare sector, prices of laboratory tests have dropped by 50 per cent due to the aggregate inventory maintained by startups such as 1Mg and Portea. The company says the expansion will create an opportunity for the employment of around 5,000 individuals, spread across its 14 new centres.
