Suzuki, Toyota ink pact to make electric cars in India

Indian govt plans to shift to an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2030 Latest news :  Japanese auto majors Toyota and Suzuki will work together on the introduction of electric vehicles in India-- the fifth largest car market-- by 2020. Suzuki, which enjoys a 50 per cent market share in the domestic passenger vehicle segment through its subsidiary Maruti, has decided to produce electric vehicles in the wake of a clear mandate from the government seeking a shift to green mobility. Both the Japanese companies inked a partnership deal in early February this year. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to this end. Now, the two auto majors have concluded another MOU on considering a cooperative structure for the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market in or around 2020, a statement said. M&M, Ford brace for a joint ride to develop electric vehicles, expand reach

Honda slashes car prices by up to Rs 1.3 lakh to pass on GST benefits

The revised prices are for ex-showroom Delhi and will vary from state to state Latest news  : Honda Cars India has brought down prices of its models by up to Rs 1.31 lakh with immediate effect to help customers reap GST benefits. The company has cut price of its hatchback Brio by up to Rs 12,279 and that of compact sedan Amaze by up to Rs 14,825. Besides, it has slashed price of Jazz by up to Rs 10,031 and that of its recently launched model WR-V by up to Rs 10,064. Price of mid-sized sedan City has been reduced in the range of Rs 16,510 and Rs 28,005. The BR-V prices will come down by up to Rs 30,387. Its premium SUV CR-V has also seen a price drop of up to Rs 1,31,663. Honda is yet to decide on the revised pricing of Accord Hybrid. Toyota launches robot to keep elderly mobile

Toyota Motor  said it will commercialise rehabilitation robots later this year when it makes its robotic walk assist system available for rent, joining Honda Motor in marketing mobility devices for Japan’s ageing population. A decade after it began developing rehabilitation robots, the world’s No.2 automaker on Wednesday said the system would be ready to hit the market by the end of 2017, two years after Honda launched a similar device. Hospitals and other care providers would be able to rent the system, designed for patients with lower limb paralysis, for 350,000 yen ($3,196.93) per month plus an initial fee of 1 million yen. “The (system) will help to provide assistance to the elderly by enabling them to live more independent lives and to also provide support for their care-givers,” Toyota said.
