Nearly 70 children have died at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur since August 7 LATEST NEWS  :    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday stressed the importance of the Swachch Bharat Mission in the eradication of diseases such as encephalitis, which claim the lives of hundreds of children every year. TCS is setting up a large BPO operation in Varanasi next year, some staff could be absorbed there LATEST NEWS : India's largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services is shutting its Lucknow centre as part of the consolidation of its UP operations and has asked its over 1,000-odd employees to either shift to its centre in Noida, Indore or any other facility in the country "We are consolidating our UP operations. There have neither been any job losses nor have we asked anyone to quit," said a TCS spokesperson. TCS is also setting up a large BPO operation in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency next year and some of these staff could  be absorbed in the centre. Won't hike power tariff to overcome losses, says state energy minister Latest news : Even as the Yogi Adityanath government has signed the ‘Power for All’ document with the Centre to provide 24x7 electricity supply to all households, state energy minister Shrikant Sharma has clarified that power tariffs would not be hiked this year. State power utility UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) is saddled with accumulated losses of about Rs 21,000 crore. “Although the cumulative losses of UPPCL are to the tune of Rs 21,000 crore, we are against the idea of hiking power tariffs and are instead working towards decreasing the line losses,” he told Business Standard on sidelines of a media briefing following the state cabinet meeting here last evening. Principal Secretary Navneet Sehgal is also transferred In the first major bureaucratic  reshuffle  by Yogi  Adityanath  government, 20 senior IAS officers, including Principal Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal were on Wednesday transferred. Sehgal, who wielded considerable influence in Akhilesh Yadav government, also held the charge of Religious Affaris, Information and Tourism. He was the CEO of UP Industrial Development Authority, UP State Highway Authority and Additional Resident Commissioner, New Delhi. An official release here said that he has been put on the wait list.
