LATEST NEWS  : The government may review the requirement of filing at least three returns every month under the GST regime with a view to easing compliance burden of taxpayers, officials said. Presently, businesses have to file returns in GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 forms for every month. These forms detail outward supplies of taxable goods and/or services, inward supplies for claiming input tax credit and monthly return. The review follows businesses complaining problems in matching invoices while filing July returns. "There will be a review of the norms to file GSTR-1, 2 and 3. Businesses have complained of trouble in invoice matching while filing GSTR-2. It would be reviewed whether matching of invoices would be pursued in the coming months," a senior government official told PTI. It alleged non-implementation of the interconnect user charges (IUC) report has given a huge benefit to them LATEST NEWS  :   In a strong attack on incumbent operators, Reliance Jio has alleged that non-implementation of the interconnect user charges (IUC) report of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in 2011 has given a huge benefit of over Rs 100,000 crore to the three major operators in the last five years. In 2011 TRAI had recommended that the IUC charges be cut to half from 20 paisa to Rs 10 paisa and gradually shift to the bill and keep model by 2014 in an affidavit to the Supreme court. Instead of moving to a zero IUC model in 2014  it was only brought down to 14 paisa with the mandate that it will be relooked after three years. Red beacons will be allowed only for emergency vehicles, said Road Minister Gadkari The Union Cabinet has decided to remove beacons atop all vehicles, including that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from May 1. The government feels beacons are seen as symbols of a VIP culture that has no place in a democratic country.   “It has been decided to do away with beacons of all kinds on top of all categories of vehicles in the country,” Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said after the Cabinet meeting. Beacons, however, would be allowed on vehicles employed in emergency and relief services like ambulances and fire tenders, an official statement said. Gadkari became the first VIP to remove the beacon from his car on Wednesday. "This government is a government of the masses and has decided to abolish the VIP culture of beacons and sirens," he said. Number of total ransomware samples grew 88% in 2016, despite 71% drop in Q4 Two and a half million Internet of Things (IoT) devices were infected by Mirai botnet by the end of fourth quarter last year, a new report by cyber security company McAfee said on Tuesday. Mirai is a malware that turns networked devices running on obsolete versions of Linux into remotely controlled "bots" which can be used for a large-scale network attacks. The 'McAfee Labs Threats Report April 2017' estimated that five IoT device IP addresses were infected by Mirai botnet each minute. "The security industry faces critical challenges in our efforts to share threat intelligence between entities, among vendor solutions, and even within vendor portfolios," said Vincent Weafer, Vice-president McAfee Labs, in a statement.
