Tata Motors net soars threefold to Rs 2,502 crore

Passenger vehicles grew 14.4% over the same period last fiscal LATEST NEWS :  Homegrown auto major Tata Motors today reported a threefold jump in consolidated profit at Rs 2,502 crore in the quarter to September from Rs 848 crore in same quarter last fiscal. Consolidated revenue grew 10.34 per cent to Rs 70,156 crore as against Rs 63,577 crore a year ago, Tata Motors said in a release. The sales (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles stood at 1,52,979 units, a growth of 13.8 per cent. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment grew by 28 per cent, while ILCV surged 35 per cent and small commercial vehicle volumes rose 38 per cent, the company said. Bajaj Auto close to forming an alliance on motorbikes, says CFO Kevin D'sa

When asked about product segment that the alliance would be in, D'sa said it would be in motorcycles LATEST NEWS  : Bajaj Auto is close to forming an alliance but the name of the other party would be announced once the formalities were completed, Chief Financial Officer Kevin D'sa told analysts at a post-earnings call on Friday. The comment, initially made at Bajaj Auto's annual meeting late on Thursday, sparked speculation in local media that the Indian motorbike manufacturer may be close to a partnership or deal with iconic European motorcycle brand Ducati, which is being sold by Germany's Volkswagen. Reuters on Thursday reported that besides Italy's Benetton family and US buyout fund Bain Capital, Indian firms Eicher Motors and Bajaj Auto have also bid for Ducati.
