Samsung has officially launched the much-hyped Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India. The smartphone duo will be available exclusively on Flipkart and Samsung Shop. The Galaxy S8 will retail at Rs 57,900, and the Galaxy S8+ at Rs 64,900. Also, both these smartphones will be available for pre-order at 03:00 PM on Flipkart. The actual sale will begin on 5 May, 2017 across retail stores.
The eighth iteration in the line of the ‘Galaxy S’ series, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ devices have been some of the most discussed smartphones in the tech community lately. There had been huge expectations from these devices in terms of the utility they offer and the innovation factor that Samsung is known to brings in to its flagship devices year after year.
The recent Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco was another reason why the world was keenly watching the launch of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones.
Amid high expectations, which can be easily judged by the sheer response and feedback the two smartphones have received in India in the form of pre-registrations, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were launched on Wednesday.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones are built on the same bezel-less curved edge design that Samsung had introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. However, the new smartphones take the definition of curved screen to another level by using the 'infinity display' that covers the bulk of the front, leaving very little bezels on top and bottom of the devices.
The two premium Samsung smartphones differ mainly in their screen sizes. The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch screen, while the Galaxy S8+ sports a 6.2-inch screen. Both of the screens are of the super AMOLED breed, with an extra wide aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and a resolution of 1,440 x 2,960 pixels. Also, the corners are no more edgy; they have been rounded in the new flagship devices.(read more)
